Abigail Basoan
Miss Abigail Basoan, sometimes erroneously referred to as Dr. Abigail Basoan, is a bejuk associate professor of thaumaturgical philosophy at the Empyrean Academy.
Biography
Basoan was born on Mulsura 22nd 198 LE within The Caravan. At age fourteen, while The Caravan passed through Leona City in Gynae of 212 LE, she left and joined the soon-to-be Empress' Protectorate, abandoning her family. She studied under sorceress Belle Hart, and soon became very interested in the various distinct discipline and theories of magic. After The Turf Wars, she helped with the academy's reconstruction up until its completion by the end of 228 LE.
In spring of 229 LE, she left to begin her field studies, touring the different systems of magic used around the Imperial States in hopes of developing a universal theory of magic. In particular, she studied Mana Ekani, Dwarven Tinkering and Smithing, various folk religions and the nature of Aasimar across the Stolidy Coast, Salt Alchemy, and The Four Ways.
Her graduate dissertation, though never published, was said to present a universal theory of magic that united all these traditions, as well as several schools within the Tradition of Science. Upon her return to the academy in Taurid of 234 LE, it proved highly controversial: its review was indefinitely suspended and the text was banned from publication by the senior faculty. Basoan was never granted the title of doctor and is now only allowed to teach as an associate professor.
