Jan Silverstein

Dr. Jan Silverstein is a Leonid ecologist and de facto head of the Empyrean Academy.

Biography

Silverstein was born on Lancen 23rd, 177 LE in Leona City. He became a student at the Empyrean Academy at the start of 191 LE, studying biology and anatomy under Phillip Le Mont.

Following the Sack of Leona and subsequent dissolution of the first Empyrean Academy, Silverstein avoided the war by leaving Leona on a tour of the Near Wilds, first crossing the Alerine Mountain Belt and travelling north through the Sita'arlan Desert. His notes and studies throughout this period would later be published as his graduate thesis in On the Beasts of the Near Wilds .

In Gynae of 212 LE, shortly after his return, Silverstein worked with Johannes Astrophel and several other former students to form the Empress' Protectorate, such that when the academy was reopened in 229 LE, he became a member of the senior faculty. Astrophel's frequent absence lead Silverstein to take the role of de facto faculty head.

Silverstein continues to research and publish papers to this day.

Views

Silverstein is an outspoken conservative and is considered rather stubborn in his beliefs. Though quite critical of corruption in Consulate rule and of Leonism as a religion more generally, he is a defender of the pride system and a proponent of Leonid Supremacy, and since the Sack of Leona has stood with the empressship in asserting a firm anti-war stance.
