Khvorot

The Khvorot is a disease prevalent within The Toreigne.

History

The Khvorot first emerged in 189 LE after mining operations lead to the Plague Hills Breach. The disease quickly spread throughout The Raeigne and furthered its decline. The spread was, however, rather successfully contained within the rest of the Imperial States, and the disease is now localised to The Toreigne, where it is seen as taboo.

Effects

The Khvorot is primarily a skin disease, and spreads through skin or blood contact. In its early stages, it damages the layers of skin, appearing as bruising or necrosis, and is generally uninfectious. As it progresses, it leads to open bleeding, at which point it becomes significantly more infectious and opens the body up to parasites, insects, and other infections. Death is slow and painful.

Treatment

The Khovorot has no known cure. Bandaging can reduce blood loss and reduce the risk of infection.
