Orc

Orcs are one of the more common races in Ittoril, though they have little presence within the Imperial States.

Characteristics

Orcs are generally of significantly larger build than humans, averaging around 6'0" and 180 lbs with higher muscle mass. They appear largely human-like, though usually have heavy brow ridges, and though they generally have pale skin, certain individuals may lean toward greens, blues, or purples.

Orcs are considered one of the primary subspecies of Simisape within the evolutionary theory of Jan Silverstein. His racial analyses have concluded that orcs generally have stunted intelligence akin to that of a child or early adolescent, having difficulty grasping theoretical concepts or developing long-term plans. He suggests that orcs instead rely on natural instinct and group decision making than individual intelligence.

Cultural Significance

The term "Orc" is frequently conflated with "barbarian". Orcs and Orcish blood are generally looked down upon within the Imperial States.

Traditional racial theory of The Four Ways suggests that Orcs have more sociality or "connected-ness" (Giay Luy: Phoi) than other varieties of simisape.

Distribution

Orcen populations are not well categorised, largely on account of the fact there are no Orc populations in the Imperial States. Orcs are, however, prominent in the near wilds.
