Reseggia

Map of Reseggia

Reseggia, officially The Reseggian Confederacy or poetically The Five Kingdoms or The New Empire, is one of the Imperial States consisting of the southern portion of the Meridán Region. Reseggia also refers to the region itself, and a number of previous states that have existed in the area.

History

Before the arrival of the Leonid Empire, Reseggia consisted of a large number of seperate kingdoms and noble houses, frequently at war, but generally united by culture and trade. Beginning in 149 LE, an outside force in the form of the Leonid Empire began invading the region, conquering the Reseggian kingdoms one by one. Beginning in 169 LE, there is also an influx of Dwarven immigrants from the recently collapsed Dwarven Kingdom, leading to the consolidated House of Ledersen controlling most of modern-day Weyland. The House of Ledersen was the last to submit to Leonid rule in 180 LE, and with its surrender, the Reseggian Conquest ended.

Fighting re-emerged in Reseggia in the late 190s, with individual kingdoms rebelling, sometimes working together and inspiring eachother, and sometimes seeking territory from their neighbours. The Leonid Empire slowly retreated from the region, already having lost most of their territory across the Meridán Region, though in-fighting continued amongst the various kingdoms up until the ratification of the Treaty of Leona, establishing the confederacy and the solidity of the remaining kingdoms and trade houses.

Government

Currently, the main ruling body of the confederacy is the Reseggian Council. The council has representatives from 13 noble houses, 5 of these being the provincial houses controlling the remaining kingdoms, and 8 being interstate trade houses.

Several minor houses, without representatives on the Reseggian Council, also hold significant power within the region. These include:
